He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Kurt and Nora Kurt (Devaney); his wife Betty Jean Kass of Columbkille's Fall Festival; and his siblings, Leon, Mark, Rev. David Kurt, Mary Edith, Natalie Kurt and June Manning.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Ewald of Dubuque, Noel Kurt (Sandra) of Cedar Rapids, Kim Kern (Dave) of Dubuque, Cindy Kutsch (Chuck) of Dubuque, Karl Kurt (Lori) of Independence, Nick Kurt (Abbey) of Shawnee, KS, Kevin Kurt (Elisa) of Waunakee, WI, Ken Kurt (Kate) of Dubuque, Digger Kurt (Beth) of Dubuque and Connie Nessan (Ben) of Dubuque; his sister Dianne Simon (Don) of Cuba City; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Steffen of Dubuque, Rose Hartung of Dubuque and Mary Agnes Kass of Dubuque. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
