He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Reittinger and Loretta Reittinger (Segbers); his siblings, Ronald, Donald and Arlene DeSotel; his son-in-law Al Coghlan; his grandson Jude Coghlan; and his siblings-in-law, William, Rosie Deppe, Lawrence, George, Bertha Klas, Donald, Ardella Helle, Leo and Gladys Schemmel.
He is survived by: his wife Hilda Deppe; and his children, Tom Reittinger (Kim) of Dubuque, IA, Carol Behnken (Duane) of Dyersville, IA, Marilyn Runde (Steve) of Asbury, IA, Bev Clapham (Rick) of Dubuque, IA, Wayne Reittinger (Denise) of Wesley Chapel, FL and Mike Reittinger of Rock Falls, IL. He is also survived by sister-in-law Sr. Julitta Deppe, OSF; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 9 step- great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Melvin W. Reittinger.
