He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred C. Cocayne (Lehnertz) and John M. Cocayne; his wife Shirley M. Cocayne (Thor); his siblings, James A. Cocayne, Dale A. Cocayne, Gale A. Cocayne, Shirley A. Cocayne and Joann M. Cocayne; and his siblings-in-law, Quentin B. and Elizabeth M. Thor (Meyer).
He is survived by: his children, Michael J. Cocayne (Michelle) of Dubuque and Christina M. Cocayne of Waukesha, WI; his granddaughters, Ashley, Kaitlin and Jenna; his brother John Cocayne (Jan) of Dubuque; his siblings-in-law, Pat Cocayne of Dubuque, Jerrie Cheffer of Bettendorf, IA, Carol Thor (Jay Yusko) of Elgin, IL, Joan Thor-Gallas (Gordon) of Monroe, WI, Mary Moll (Gordon) of Mauston, WI and John Thor (Sheri) of Bellevue, NE; and his pet Nyla. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many great and several great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to either the Dubuque Evening Lions Club Vision & Hearing Fund or St. John's Lutheran Church.
