He was predeceased by: his parents, George Schmitt and Rose Schmitt (Manders); his siblings, Gary Schmitt and Jayne Reynolds; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Schmitt and Patricia Schmitt.
He is survived by: his wife Dee Schmitt; his son Joseph Schmitt (Kelly) of Surprise, AZ; his stepson Christopher Stasney (Jessie) of Stuart, FL; his grandchildren, Aria, Owen, Saydee, Mila, Milo and Kaia; and his siblings, Richard Schmitt of Dubuque, Kathy Sisler (Gary) of Stanton, MI. and June Hancock (Pat) of Dubuque.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory (2659 John F Kennedy Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
