He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Friedman and Lena Friedman (Meyer); his wife Renee; his son Andrew; his siblings, Bernice Friedman, Cyril Friedman (Edith), Hildegard Cox (Tom), Paul Friedman (Jeanette) and Cletus Friedman (Winifred); his father-in-law James (Rowena O'Leary); and his sister-in-law Kathleen Kirby (Bob).

He is survived by: his mother-in-law Renee O'Leary; his cousin Elmer; his child Terry Friedman (Paula) of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Ann Friedman (William Lynn), Jeff Friedman and Carolyn Anderson (Bryan); his daughter Cathleen Jo Ladd (John) of Burbank; his grandchildren, Christopher Ladd (Courtney) and Sarah Ladd (Chase Hilt); his son Tom Friedman (Joanne) of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Emily Haack (Pete), Katie Nunez (Arcadio), Jenni Friedman (Juan Reyes), Ted Friedman (Heather) and Ben Friedman (Maren); and his child Jamie Friedman of Chicago. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, plants and statues, donations may be given to the Church of the Nativity, Divine Word College, Mary's Inn, Dubuque Rescue Mission, or the charity of your choice.
