He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo Abitz and LaVon Abitz (Herbst); and his nephews, Joshua and Jacob Aird. He is survived by his children, Sadie Abitz and Joseph Abitz; his sisters, Rhonda G. Scott (Eric) of Benton, WI, Julie A. Aird (Jamey) of Quincy, IL and Karla M. Scott (Sheldon) of Asbury, IA; and his close friend Joe Gaukel.
