He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence "Shorty" Klaas and Agnes Klaas (Heiderscheit); and his siblings, Gloria Klaas, Virginia Nelson and Herbert Klaas.
He is survived by: his son Steve; his great-nephews, Lock and Dam No; his wife Ann Voigts; his children, Stephen Klaas (Tara Longoria), Roxanne Klaas and Mark Klaas; his grandson Jonah Klaas; his sister Mary Claire Klaas (Ed Ehlers); his nieces, Kara Klaas (John Khouri), Carolyn Klaas, Sue Biddle (Bob), Debbie Ruden and Stacie Neldaughter (Jodi Valdes); his nephew Paul Klaas; his great-nephews, Patrick Khouri and Andy Khouri; his great-aunts, Rosie Winner and Hazel Schend; his cousin Peggy Miller (Gerry); his siblings-in-law, Yvonne Klaas and Lee Nelson; his truck driving buddies, Van Klause and Gary Noel; his much-loved dachshund Emily; and also Amanda.
Memorials may be given to Bethany Home, Hospice, and the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.
