She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Wersinger and Frances Wersinger (Kleine); her husband James P. McCarthy; her brothers, LaVerne, Glen, Raymond, Virgil Wersinger, Jack McCarty (Mae) and Dennis McCarthy (Mickey); and also Leona Eigenberger.
She is survived by: her children, Cyndi Kiefer (Tom) of Dubuque, Sheila McCarthy (Jackie) of Dubuque, Colleen Kemp (Mike) of St. Charles, MO, Cecelia T. D. Specht (Jack) of Omaha, NE, Shawn McCarthy (Teresa) of Florence, AZ and Molly Healey (Dave) of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Rebecca Ryerson (Mark), Rachel Waldner (Joe), Shane McCarthy (Jana), Marcie Knight, Natalie Bartman (Patrick), Jake Skiles, Megan Gabriel (Chris) and Luke Healey; and her sister-in-law Gertie Wersinger of Dubuque. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Wahlert High School.
