He was predeceased by: his parents, John Leroy Bentley Sr. and Karla Flood; his brother-in-law Chris Thein; and his grandparents, Herbert, Minnie Bentley, Edgar and Ina Flood.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Bentley; his children, Codey, Andrew and Brittany (Evan); his grandchild Claire; his siblings, John Bentley Jr., Jodi Thein and Jason Bentley; and his pet Oscar. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
