He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl McDermott and Camilla McDermott (Fitzpatrick); his grandparents, John, Margaret McDermott (Casey), Harold "Hal" and Clara Fitzpatrick (Slattery); his aunt Adeline Sommers-Sweeney; his sister Gloriann Egan (Patrick); his niece Laura Heiderscheit (Egan); his great-niece Faith Willenborg; and his cousin Danny Sommers.
He is survived by: his children, Beth McDermott of Chicago, IL, Jeff McDermott, Shawn McDermott of Dubuque, Russ McDermott of Dickeyville, WI and Daniel McDermott of St. Paul, MN; his grandchildren, Garrett and Calla McDermott of St. Paul, MN; and his cousin Jeff Sommers (Loretta).
