He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Progar and Frances Progar (Okoren); his wife Sharon Huber; his stepmother Jean Progar (Murzyn); his daughter Annette Ernzen; and his siblings-in-law, Wynne Progar and Jim Geary.
He is survived by: his daughters, Andrea Progar of Cedar Rapids, IA and Angela Hefel (Jeff) of Winona, MN; his grandchildren, Alex Hefel (Carrie) of Hutchinson, MN, Jenna Letsch (Nick) of Waukee, IA and Zach Hefel of Minneapolis, MN; his great grandchildren, Caroline and Ryan Letsch; his close friend Sally Wernimont; and his siblings, Roberta Kaminsky (Richard), Jean Geary, Joseph Progar, Thomas Progar (Geriann), Jim Progar (Michele) and Paul Progar (Maureen).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving); or to Hospice of Dubuque.
