He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph William and Stella Marie Dolan Gaul; his sons, Peter and Tony; his sisters, Verna Greenwood and Connie Maiers; his brothers-in-law, Ray Greenwood and Bernie Maiers; the mother of his children Gladys Gaul; and his nephew David Estal.
He is survived by: his wife Deb; his children, Margie Schumann (Rick) of Dyersville, IA, Patsy Schueller of Epworth, IA, Donna Laaker (Joel) of Dubuque and Roger Gaul (Ashley) of Peosta, IA; his grandchildren, Kevin Schumann (Makenzie), Trevor Schumann, Carson, Carter, Kaylee Schueller, Isla, Cullen, Imogen Laaker, Eliana, Bryson and Colton Gaul; his siblings, David Gaul (Carol) of Guttenberg, IA and Marlene Koppes (Bill Hosch) of Cascade, IA; his parents-in-law, Joe and Karen Rokusek of Dubuque; his siblings-in-law, Sherrie Estal (Dan), Lynn Lieb (Joe), Dennis Rokusek (Kelli), Steve Rokusek (Mickey) and Jeff Rokusek (LaVonne Sawvell); his sister Sharon; and also Tayte Schumann. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
