He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Zillig and Alvera Zillig (Fluhr); his siblings, June Noonan (Leighton), Richard "Rich" Zillig (Jean), Charles "Chuck" Zillig (Nancy), Joyce MacFarlane (Bob) and John "Jack" Zillig (Barb); and his in-laws, Cecilia Oliver, Donald "Ollie" Oliver (Gerry) and Anne Meeks.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Zillig (Kay) of Mary's Church; his son Dan Zillig; his grandchildren, Luke and Rachel Zillig of Woodbury, MN; his daughter Deb Bruns (Jerry) of Waukee, IA; his grandchildren, Zach Bruns (Dani) of Ankeny, IA, Chelsey Bruns of West St and Ike Bruns (Emily) of Des Moines, IA; his great grandchildren, Perri Bruns and Margot Bruns; and his sisters-in-law, Jean Noonan of Dubuque and Carol Boal (Wesley) of Dubuque, IA.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (170 Montgomery Ave, East Dubuque, IL 61025). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Dubuque and the East Dubuque District Library.
