He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Schmit and Jeannette "Chick" Schmit (Franzen); his wife Lillian "Lilly" Meyer; and his brothers, Robert and Donald Schmit.
He is survived by: his sister-in-law Geneva Schmit of Dubuque, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Charles J. Schmit Memorial Fund has been established.
