She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Nebel and Mary Nebel (Strief); her son Mark Hammel; her parents-in-law, Loretta (Schueller) and Omer Hammel; and her siblings, Shirley Lang and Bill Nebel.
She is survived by: her husband Gerald Hammel, Sr.; her children, Gerald Louis Hammel, Jr. (Steve Koeller-Hammel) of Dubuque, Mary Kay Maas (Ricky) of Peosta and Brenda Husemann (Larry) of East Dubuque, IL; her grandchildren, Andrew Maas (Stephanie), Ashley Maas, Abigail Husemann (Drew Johnson), Michael Husemann (Camden Henkels), Annika Husemann and Natalie Husemann; her niece Mary Ann Gilligan (Mark); and her friend Patty Brown. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory (3860 Asbury Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
