“In loving memory of BVM Mary McElmeel, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. My father worked for Mary's brother, Jim McElmeel. I met Mary years ago when she was visiting with her father in Waterloo, IA (I was a teen). I have thought of her many times since then. I knew nothing about BVMs then, but know more today. Now I am teaching at Clarke University and believe Mary's spirit influenced me to get here. I am glad I noticed this announcement, although several weeks later.”
