He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Boland and Fern Boland (Cheeseman); and his siblings, Charles, Leo (Gloria), Joe (Irene), Bill (Vi), Kenny, Mike, Danny (Pat), Bob, Brian, Jack (Marlene), Mary Fangman (John), Pat Pfab (Tony) and Ann Doyle (Joe).

He is survived by: his children, Marianne Fiedler (Ken) and David Boland (Lisa); his wife Elizabeth (Betty); his grandsons, Jacob (Megan), Josh Fiedler (Stephanie Dahl), Carson and Maximus Boland; his great grandchild Colter Fiedler; his brother Barney Boland (Char); his sisters-in-law, Marianne Boland, Dolly Boland, Charlotte Boland, Shirley Boland and Lois Boland; and his godson Mike Boland (Deb). He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, Birthright of Dubuque, or Dubuque County Right to Life.
