He is survived by: his children, David Heitzman of Dubuque, IA, James Heitzman of Dubuque, IA, Mary Prososki (Paul) of Spirit Lake, IA, Ann Gillispie (Tim) of Tucson, AZ and Joseph Heitzman (Shelly) of Urbandale, IA.; his grandchildren, Will Shellenberger, Jake, Josh Prososki, Kendall, Jordan Gillispie, Anna and Emily Heitzman; and his caregivers, Dr. Mark Moore, Christine, Meghan, Angelia, Ryan and Kim.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Dubuque Food Pantry, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Steeple Square, Archdiocese One or Hospice of Dubuque.
