He was predeceased by : his parents, Josiah Paul and Delta Mae Holcomb Stewart; his former life partner Mary Lou Stewart; his son Dennis Stewart; and his siblings, Donald, Herbert Stewart, Doris Dearborn and Louise Bowersox.

He is survived by : his wife Elizabeth Williams; his daughters, Wanda Swanberg (Jerald) of Ankeny and Joyce Spurgeon (Lyle) of Bloomfield; his daughter-in-law Susan Stewart of Bloomfield; and his grandchildren, Maria Landmesser (Tysen) of Ankeny, Zachary Swanberg of Johnston, Nolan Stewart of Bloomfield, Shawna Dunkin of Bloomfield, Shelby Jo Taylor of Bloomfield and Stewart Nebel (Kylie) of Bloomfield. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Davis County Dollars for Scholars or to the Rex Stewart Memorial to be designated at a later date.
