He was predeceased by: his parents, James Grover and Ada Mae Thomas Batterson; his grandchildren, J. D. Batterson and Tasha Hawkins; his siblings, Walter Batterson (Olive), Carl Batterson (Bonnie), Bernice Thill (Clarence), Letha Orman (Archie), Wilma Martsching (Dick) and Willa Rupe (Doyle); and his brother-in-law Tom Kaltenberger.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Batterson; his children, Donna Hawkins (Larry) of Drakesville, Jerry Batterson (Janice) of Bloomfield, Craig Batterson (Tammy) of Eddyville and Scott Batterson (Cande) of Drakesville; and his sister Mary Forsythe of Ottumwa. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
