He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Bemmel and Gertrude Van Bemmel (Van Tol); his wife Sonja Ruth; his son Alan Van Bemmel; his daughter-in-law Gloria Van Bemmel; his brothers, Henry Paul Van Bemmel and Alvin Van Bemmel; his great grandchildren, Kane Van Bemmel, Belle Van Bemmel and Brynn Key; and his brother-in-law John Van Den Top.
He is survived by: his children, Rainer Van Bemmel (Diane) of Doon, Patsy Vander Schaaf (Dennis) of Matlock, Glenn Van Bemmel (Deb) of Doon, Kathleen Harmelink (Harlan) of Sioux Center and Mike Van Bemmel (Lori) of Doon; his siblings, Gertrude Van Den Top of Hull, Marie Van Dam (Jack) of Lake Wilson and Marion Van Bemmel (Carol) of Luverne, Minnesota; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Van Bemmel of Rock Valley and Wilma Van Bemmel of Doon. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
