We are sad to announce that on October 20, 2022, at the age of 85, Gary Vander Waal of Doon, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Aart Waal and Tonia Vander Waal (Van Os); his daughter Susan Vander Waal; his brothers, Jan Vander Waal (Corrie), John Vander Waal (Pam) and Aart Vander Waal; his parents-in-law, Charles and Tena Hengst; and his brothers-in-law, Leen Wisse, Lawrence Hengst (Mildred), Harold Hengst and Peter Hengst.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Ann Hengst; his daughters, Tena Blom (William) of Doon, Tonia Boluyt (William) of Conklin, Elizabeth Fluit (Harold) of Fairview, Trudy Van Giessen (Randall) of Portage, Marie Wynia (Lyle) of Canton and Kristine Taylor (Jeffrey) of Rock Valley, Iowa; his siblings, Gertrude Wisse of Rock Valley, Marie Willekes (Lourens) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Henk Vander Waal of Orange City, Iowa and Walter Vander Waal (Sheryl) of Orange City, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Raymond Hengst (Peggy) of Washington, Elizabeth Ann Vander Waal of Rock Valley and Ann Hengst of Easton, Pennsylvania.. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hegg End of Life Care at Hegg Health Center or the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
