He was predeceased by: his parents, George Austin and Alyce Austin (Leaf); his brothers, Richard, Cortland, Conway and Gerald; his parents-in-law, Burr and Aola Fisher; and his son-in-law David Mehl.
He is survived by: his wife Gayle Fisher; his children, Lori Mehl (Jim Vermazen) of West Point, Iowa and Robert Austin; his grandchildren, Ashley Hocker (Eric), Daniel Mehl (Katelyn) and Brian Austin-Weischedel (Mersade); and his great grandchildren, Brinley Hocker, Brody Hocker, Brycen Mehl, Kinze Mehl, Emily Austin-Weischedel, Rylan Austin-Weischedel and Emmett Austin-Weischedel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Donnellson United Methodist Church.
