With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Verlyn Scheckel of Dewitt, Iowa, born in Springbrook, Iowa, who passed away on January 26, 2024 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Scheckel and Margaret Scheckel (Kilburg); his siblings, Charles Scheckel (Janet), Joyce Bauer (Bill) and Carol Steines (Verlyn); his sister-in-law Joyce Scheckel; and his in-law Barbara Ryan (Richard).
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Lutgen; his children, Michael Scheckel (Cindy) of Silvis, Diana Biskup (Brian Atlee) of Milwaukee, WI, Steven "Goob" Scheckel (Debbie Clark) of DeWitt and Barbara Scheckel of DeWitt; his granddaughters, Kate Umphres (Morgan), Jessica Gillmor (Marcus), Bridget Manning (Mitchell) and Madeline Biskup (Matt Collins); his great grandchildren, Wyatt Manning and Owen Gillmor; and his brother Merwyn Scheckel (Carleen Sievertsen). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
