He was predeceased by: his parents, Bartolo Aguirre and Olimpia Aguirre (Saenz); his former wife Consuelo Garcia; his wife Dixie Edwards; his son Richard Aguirre; and his siblings, Joseph, Richard, Steven, Mary Ellen and Victoria.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Aguirre (Selena) of Davenport, Gloria Cypret (Mike) of Davenport, Michael Aguirre (Vicki) of Davenport, Cynthia Hughes of McKinney and Jo Ellen Zeimet (Jay) of DeWitt; his grandchildren, Bobby Aguirre, Angela Cypret, Steve Cypret, Gabriel Cypret, Andy Eldredge-McMillan (Zach), Shanen Dean, Anthony Hughes, Samantha Hughes, Elizabeth Dingwald (Andrew), Katelyn Hank, Kayla Zeimet, Kami Zeimet and Keaton Zeimet; and his great grandchild Isla.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.
