It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Reed of Dewitt, Iowa, who passed away on March 15, 2023, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Reed to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Reed and Joan Reed (McDermott) of DeWitt; his brothers, Mark and Tom; his nephew Jeff Picchi; and his brother-in-law Rex Robinson.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Franzen; his children, Nicole Schmidt of DeWitt and Chris Reed (Ashley) of Delmar; his grandchildren, Carissa, Holly Schmidt, Griffin, Harper and Owen Reed; and his siblings, Patrick (Linda), Kathleen Picchi (Pete), Dotty Fischer, Joe, Leo, Joan Wheeler (Ron), Julie Reed, Helen Robinson, Greg, Barbara Bowstead (David), Jim (Gala) and Lisa Reed. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

“So sorry for your loss ! I worked for John when he was a Carpenter in the 80’s . He was a very hard worker and a joy to be around. Working for him was a great experience I will never forget ! We would stop sometimes at his house for lunch ,,,so he could be with his kids and watch a soup he liked . He had so much energy and I have a lot of great memories working with him .
