With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Burken of Dewitt, Iowa, born in Naperville, Illinois, who passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Burken and Marjorie Burken (James); his wife Janet Marie Ryan; his grandson Jacob Daniel Burken; his brothers, Ben Burken and Leonard Burken; and his brothers-in-law, Don Ryan, Bob Ryan, Ralph Ryan, David Ryan and Charlie Ryan.
He is survived by: his children, Marsha McConnell (Scott) of Castle Rock, Mike Burken (Alicia) of Grand Mound, Larry Burken (Mary Beth) of Cedar Falls, Karen McWilliams (Todd) of DeWitt and Wade Burken (Julie) of DeWitt; his grandchildren, Paula Foreman (Ryan), Sarah McConnell, Rebecca McConnell, Katie Burken, Tom Burken, Bobby Burken, Ellie Burken, Grace Burken, Sam Burken, Will Burken, Taylor Kilian (Matt), Matthew McWilliams, Javier Burken, Joseph Burken, Molly Burken and Jack Burken; his great grandchildren, Noah Foreman, Allie Foreman, Emma Foreman and Lauren Foreman; his siblings, Laverne "Ed" Burken (Bonnie) and Mark Burken (Jerri); and his sisters-in-law, Charlene Ryan, Lenore McGuire, Joyce Spindler, Doris Anderson (Milt), Pauline Burken and Sandy Burken. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
