He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick August and Amelia Thiede (Jacobsen); his wife Shirley Carraher; his brother Robert Thiede (Mary Jean); and his nephew Robert Mark Thiede.
He is survived by: his children, Lori Michaelsen (Jim) of Camanche, Fred Thiede (Jennifer) of DeWitt and LuAnn "Lu" Thiede of DeWitt; his grandchildren, Nathan Kooi (Katey), Kelly Michaelsen (Kevin Archer), Ashley Leibold (Brian) and Curtis Thiede (Erika); his great grandchildren, Noella, Kinley, Tyler, Ashton, Blake and Liam; his niece Cheryl Kinnaird (George); his close friend Karen Wendel; and his pets, Bailey and Annie. He is also survived by friends, especially his kids and grandkids.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Iowa Chapter, or Clinton County Fair.
