It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Darlene Gilbert of Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Albert and Minnie Mildred Cummings (Duesbury); her uncle Albert; her aunt Eva Link; her brothers, Dick Cummings and Terry Cummings; and her son Brian Gilbert.
She is survived by: her husband Ronald Eugene Gilbert of Des Moines; her daughters, Debra Nichols (Jeff) of Grimes and Susan Stine (Don) of Ankeny; her daughter-in-law Chris Gilbert of Mississippi; and her brothers, Don Cummings (Mary Kay), Norman Cummings, Tom Cummings (Pam) and Gary Cummings (Marlene). She is also survived by her nine grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (422 1st St, Maxwell, IA 50161). A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa.
