He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Lucas and Helga Lucas (Andreasen); his former wife JoAnne; and his great grandchild Katelyn. He is survived by: his wife Jean Lucas; his children, Candee Lucas (Jason Williams), Cindee Moyer (Mike) and Christee Lee; his stepson Mike Balser (Ann Kochara); and his siblings, Mary Kalberg and Dale Lucas. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens (121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery (121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Planned Parenthood or the Harris/Walz campaign in loving memory of Gene.
