He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd R. Smith and Elaine Smith (Solyst); and his brother Daniel Smith. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Richard (Michele), Shelly and David Jr. (Jory); his grandchildren, Peter, Joy, Kaylee and Kendra; and his siblings, Lloyd Jr. Smith (Susan), Lois Smith-Underwood and Mary Parker. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.
