She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Hastings and Elsie Hastings (Kuester); her children, Kimberly Kudej (Larry), Todd Huffman (Sandra), Lisa McDermott (Steve) and Penny Franke (Dan); her husband Cyril Huffman; her stepmother Kartha Hastings; her siblings, Lila Ewing, Keith Hastings, Ronnie Hastings and Robert Smeby; her grandson Michael Kudej; and her son-in-law Dan Horan.
She is survived by: her pet Elsie; her grandchildren, Matthew Kudej, Matt Brown (Becca), Katie Treiber (Tracy), Andrew Huffman (Samantha Beggs), Ashley Huffman, Hailey Franke and Benjamin Franke; and her great grandchildren, Emmett, Lucas Brown and Elsie.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Sylvia's name to her family which will be later designated to the church or Unity Point Hospice Care of Waterloo.
