He was predeceased by: his parents, Leone Smith and Emil Kessel; his siblings, Sandra Armstrong, Lana Kessel, Diane Krell and Dennis Kessel; and his son-in-law Paul Najarian.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Ann Chilgren; his daughters, Jennifer and Julie (Dave); his grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson and Isabella; his siblings, Mike Smith (Chris), Linda Eidemiller (John), Doug Kessel (Judy) and Ava Schipper (Skip); and his brothers-in-law, Don Armstrong and Dennis Krell.
