He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilhelm Gehring and Leone Gehring (Jochims); his son Wilhelm Joseph "Billy Joe" Gehring; and his sister Maxine Boeck. He is survived by: his wife Charlene Pries of Denison; his daughter Tonya Rateau (Gehring) of North, Virginia; his grandchildren, Travis Cipriana (Joan) of Spring, Texas and Holly Russell of Richmond, Virginia; and his brother-in-law Gaylord Boeck of Schleswig.
