He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferdinand and Vernetta Paulsen (Schmidt); his granddaughter Clista McKinney; his sister Roseann Gehlsen (Reynold); and his siblings-in-law, Jacqueline Henry (Wayne) and Floyd Boger.
He is survived by: his wife Faylene Paulsen of Charter Oak, Iowa; his children, Cosette Faye McKinney (Tim) of Cleveland, Ryan Ronald Paulsen (Dawn) of Mapleton and Roni Christina Knief (Jason) of Ankeny, Iowa; and his sister-in-law Benita Boger of Denison. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
