He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie John Bretey and Bernice Katherine Bretey (Bauer); his former wife Marcia Lou Rose; and his brothers, Dale and Gene.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Willson Mokosak; his sons, Jason Bretey (Celina) of San Ramon and Jared Bretey (Rayanna) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; his stepsons, Michael Zierath (Kim) of Flower Mound and Jon Zierath of Aplington, Iowa; his grandchildren, Christian, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Cecelia and Annabella Bretey; his stepgrandchildren, Brett, Blake and Madison Zierath; his siblings, Gerald Bretey (Karen) of Urbandale, Leroy Bretey (Patty) of Omaha, Bill Bretey (Mary) of Fairmont, Minnesota and Lois Shook (Paul) of Denison, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Tudy Bretey of Denison, Judith Bretey of Carroll, Iowa, Richard Rose (Janet) of Westside and Gale Moore of Gretna, Nebraska. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The family has requested that masks be worn and social distancing be observed at the visitation and funeral service.
