He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Swanson and Irene Swanson (Stolz); his children, Jerome, Patrick and Sarah; his brothers, Richard, Eugene and Darrell; his parents-in-law, Maurice and Marie Curlile; and his siblings-in-law, Glen and Wanda.

He is survived by: his sons, Michael of Denison, IA., Mark of Denison, IA., Mitchell of Denison, IA. and Matthew (Mary) of Denison, IA.; his wife Carol of Denison; his grandchildren, Nolan of Norman, Haylie and William of Denison; and his siblings, Gail of Davenport, Darlene Reis of Denison, Judy Brodersen of Denison, Patricia Getty of Alpharetta and Corrine Bogart (Rick) of Omaha.
