He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll Straube and Frankie Mills Straube; his daughter Robin Marie Straube; his siblings, Carole Descoteaux, Virginia Hartwig and Terry Robertson; and his half-siblings, David Vinton and Nancy Barr.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Short; his sons, Leroy Straube of Delta, Terry Straube of Des Moines and Carroll Straube (Butch) of Delta; and his sister Connie Anderson (Jim) of Des Moines. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
