He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth and Shirley Berns Sr. (Harbaugh); his siblings, Deborah Berns, Gladys Moser, Gloria Nelson, Sheila Smith and Terry Berns; and his brother-in-law Bruce Moser.
He is survived by: his wife Wilma Hines of Delhi; his children, Roseann Berns of Delhi and Scott Berns of Las Vegas, NV; his siblings, Sue Troester (Edward) of Guttenberg, Patricia Judkins (Ron "Jud") of Guttenberg, Mary Fabert (Gene) of Independence, MO, Kathy Berns of Guttenberg, Wilfred Berns (Terry) of Arlington, WA, Carroll Berns of Guttenberg, Timothy Berns of Independence, MO and Todd Berns of Waterloo; and his brother-in-law Bill Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
