It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Schmitz of Dedham, Iowa, who passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schmitz and Margaret Schmitz (Brincks); his granddaughter Leah Schaben; and his siblings, Rita Becker, Irma Morgan, Mary Swatta, Marcella Berning, Mildred Landon, Marlene Schmitz, Louie, Bob, Ray, Bill and Joe Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Pauline Schmitz of Carroll; and his children, Mark Schmitz (Mary) of Dedham, Alan Schmitz (Tamara) of Dedham, David Schmitz (Julie) of Alta, Danny Schmitz of Pleasant Hill, Polly Bauer of Bagley, Gary Schmitz (Annissa) of Mt. Carmel, Jayne Adams (Bryon) of Omaha and Crystal Parkis (Brian) of Carroll. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
