Loretta Bachelder Obituary
With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Loretta Bachelder of Decorah, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Loretta left this world on October 31, 2024 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Blumhagen and Mabel Blumhagen (Meyer); her stepfather Carl Schnitzler; her husband George O. Bachelder; her son Daniel G. Bachelder; her siblings, Mardella (Ronald Hoopman) and Loren Blumhagen; her sisters-in-law, Bernice (Earl Koenig) and Irene (Orville Koenig); and her nephews, Mark Koenig and Patrick Conway.
She is survived by: her daughter Janene Leeper (Jeff); her grandchildren, Rachel Leeper, Hannah Leeper and Ethan Leeper; her daughter-in-law Susan Bachelder (Bob Johnson); her grandchildren, Abby Schmidt (Robin), Tyler Bachelder (Jenny) and Katie Stracke (Jordan); her great grandchildren, Harlow, Daniel Schmidt, Madison, Jonathan Bachelder, Benjamin and Keillor Stracke; her sister-in-law Phillis Blumhagen; and also Schnitzler.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church (604 W Broadway St, Decorah, IA 52101). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the Bachelder Family Endowed Scholarship at Luther College, which gives a yearly gift to one or two students in need.
