He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Zahasky and Adeline Zahasky (Kunt); his wife Louise Zahasky (Quinn); and his brother Ray Mikesh. He is survived by: his children, Rick Zahasky (Roseann) of Decorah, Tom Zahasky (Marsha) of Madison, Kathy Kephart (Neal) of Hayward, John Zahasky (Melanie) of Juneau and Paul Zahasky (Melissa) of Juneau, Alaska; his brother Marvin Mikesh (Carol) of Rochester, MN; his sister-in-law Marge Halvorson of West Union; and his grandchildren, Amy Hudson (Eric), Andy Zahasky (Andrea), Nic Zahasky (Kara), Sara Zahasky (Hans Kabat), Ben Zahasky (Kimberly), Brianna Kauer (Matt), Dan, Michelle, Tim Kephart (Susan), Molly Noake (Tim), Katie Kerns (Zach), Stephanie Aguayo (Chris), David Zahasky (Kaylene), Melissa Holcomb (Tim), Laura Zahasky, Quinn Zahasky (Emily) and Abigale Zahasky. He is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Decorah Fire Department Training Center.
