He is survived by: his wife Joan Johnson of Dayton, Iowa; his children, Kent Johnson of Bettendorf and Laura Kain (James Jr.) of North Liberty, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jakob, Nikolas Johnson, Andrew, Lars and Madelyn Kain; his siblings, Alan Johnson (Karen) of Denver and Joan Bickner (Bruce) of Sycamore, Illinois; and his adoptive children, JeanAnn Newell and Steven Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
