It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Roger Larry Schemmel of Davenport, Iowa, born in Chester, South Dakota, who passed away on April 21, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Rudy Schemmel and Vera Schemmel (Nagle); his wife Julia Mae Kallaus; his children, Roger Jr. (Lori), Long Grove, Rita Hoeksema (Tom), Rick, Rebecca Rodriguez (Brett) and Robin Wilson (Brad); his sister-in-law Deanna Schemmel; his brothers, Donovan Blake Davenport (Carolyn) and Charles Kallaus (Linda); his daughter-in-law Cheryl Schemmel; his brother Thomas Schemmel; and his sisters-in-law, Patricia Pencil and Caryl Kallaus. He was also cherished by his many nieces/nephews.

He was Julie's caregiver for the 12 years she battled dementia and he lived independently with Parkinson's disease until a March 4th fall at his home.
