He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Schwerdtfeger and Margaret Schwerdtfeger (Enderle); his son William H. Schwerdtfeger; his in-laws, Johnny and Rosa Wright; and his siblings, Mary Claire Krell, Nyline, Margaret Sexton, George, Harry, Glenn, James, Allen and Harold Schwerdtfeger.
He is survived by: his wife Rosamary A. Wright; and his sons, Richard Schwerdtfeger (Alicia) of Alabama, Tommy Schwerdtfeger (Kimberly) of Bettendorf and Johnnie Schwerdtfeger of Davenport.
