He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Smith and Nina Cox Smith; his brothers, Bill Smith and Walter Smith; and his stepsons, James P. and Jeffrey T. Hickman.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Smith (Lynn) of Madison, WI, Deanna Hood (Richard) of Martinsville, IN and Joseph Smith (Mary) of Shipman, IL; and his stepdaughters, Debra Weber-Karo (Tim) of Appleton, WI and Teresa Hickman-Smith (Brad) of Davenport, IA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
