He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Benda (Balvin); his stepson Matt Wall; and his siblings, Adolph, Milo, Ludwig, Emil, Vitus, Joseph, Lester, Leonard, Vera Smith and Leota Lamparke.

He is survived by: his father Charles Benda; his wife Diana Wall (LeMaster); his children, Kathy O'Haver of Bettendorf, Mary Grabe (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, Tom Benda (Tammy) of Toddville, IA and Paul Benda (Sally) of Cedar Rapids; and his grandchildren, Khloe, Seth O'Haver, Hayley Warack, Hannah, Heidi Supple, Eric, Matt, Brian Benda and Sommer Benda. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to St. Croix Hospice.
