He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Mathews and Stucker; his brother Dr. Leslie Mathews; and his son-in-law Jim Myers. He is survived by: his wife Georgia Cash of Danville; his children, Debbie Mathews of Danville, Steve Mathews (Sandra) of Harpers Ferry and Monica Myers of Burlington; his grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Blayne, Brooke, Nick, Marissa, Morgan and Johanna; and his sister-in-law Mary Mathews of Myrtle Beach. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Fair.
