With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Colin Gerst Sr. of Danville, Iowa, who passed away on January 1, 2025 at the age of 62. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Gerst and E. Marlene Gerst; his brothers, Eric Shaw and Mark Shaw; and his brother-in-law Steven Wasson.
He is survived by: his wife Amanda Harris; his children, Desiree Delzell (Jamie) of Wayland, Colin Gerst Jr. (Michele) of Burlington, Mark Gerst (Rachelle) of Burlington and Eric Gerst of Burlington; his grandchildren, Timothy, Lucas, Kaylan, Lance, Max, Mary, Maddie, Kaylie, Owen and Theo; and his siblings, Mona Shaw of Burlington, April Schulthies of West Burlington, Jackie Smith of Ridgecrest, Jacky Wistrom (Dan) of Sperry, Ed Gerst (Sandy) of Burlington, Sandy Wasson of Burlington and Sherry Malone (Tony) of Eddyville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lunning Funeral Chapel (2620 Mt Pleasant St, Burlington, IA 52601). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
A memorial has been established in his memory to help with medical bills and other expenses.
