He is survived by: his wife Joan Shekey of Dakota City; his children, Tony Paterson of Idaho Falls, Michael Paterson of Portland Oregon, Marti Hawkins (Steve) of Blackfoot, Lenny Paterson (Tiffany) of Paton, Jason Paterson (Andrea) of Humboldt and Lisa Kazmi (Ali) of Romeoville; and his siblings, Donald Paterson (Lisa) of Washington and Donna Bowling of Missouri. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
A rosary was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 4:45 PM at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service (612 2nd Ave S, Humboldt, IA 50548). Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (311 N 4th St, Humboldt, IA 50548). A wake was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Parish Wake Service.
